Fincom Triumphs at the Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals 2024

Cyprus Celebrates Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The entrepreneurial spirit of Cyprus was on full display as the Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals 2024, presented by global fintech Unlimit, crowned its latest champion.

In a competition that saw nine groundbreaking startups vying for the top spot, Fincom, represented by CEO & President Gideon Droriemerged victorious.

The event, held amidst much anticipation, brought together some of the most innovative minds in the region. The competition was fierce, with each startup showcasing unique solutions to pressing industry challenges.

However, Fincom truly captured the judges’ attention with its impressive market potential, global scalability, and clear, compelling presentation of its innovative solution.

Fincom is a cutting-edge technology company specialising in developing advanced financial compliance and anti-money laundering (AML) solutions. Their platform leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to streamline the compliance process, helping financial institutions quickly identify and mitigate risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes. By offering a scalable and efficient solution, Fincom enables businesses to meet stringent regulatory requirements while reducing operational costs and improving overall security.

The event

The panel of eight esteemed judges — including Yuriy Romanyukha, Persia Georgiadou, Stavriana A. Kofteros, Dmitry Dosov, Theodoros Loukaidis, Carolos Georgallis, Panayiotis Philimis and Yiannis Eftychiou  — faced the difficult task of selecting a winner. After thorough deliberation, Fincom was chosen as the standout startup, thanks to its strong potential for global expansion and the far-reaching impact of its solution.

This victory grants Fincom the coveted opportunity to compete on the global stage at the Grand Finale in San Francisco, where they will contend for a $1,000,000 investment prize. Additionally, Fincom has secured $5,000 in marketing services from MART, and their travel expenses to San Francisco will be covered by the Direct Trade Foundation. This win not only highlights Fincom’s innovation but also places them on the international stage as the champions of the Cyprus Regional Finals.

In addition, a special prize of up to 80 hours of free auditing and up to $50,000 in development investment from our technology partner Cybergizer had been awarded to Soula, the team building an empathetic copilot for moms.

This event highlights the dynamic growth of the startup ecosystem in Cyprus, with the island rapidly becoming a hub of innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean. The Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals not only showcased local talent but also underscored Cyprus’s potential to influence global markets.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the support of its partners. Special thanks go to:

As Fincom prepares to take on the world at the Grand Finale, Cyprus can take pride in the innovation and entrepreneurial talent it continues to nurture.

The Startup World Cup Cyprus Finals 2024 has once again proven that this island nation is a formidable player on the global startup stage.
