Cyprus’ innovation ecosystem was greatly boosted as chief scientist Demetris Skourides was awarded the prestigious Global Leader accolade at the 2025 Global Business Conclave in London. Held at the iconic House of Lords in Westminster and organized by Whitepage, the event recognized Skourides as one of the top 100 international leaders out of 5,000 nominations—a testament not only to his personal achievements but also to Cyprus’ rising global stature in research and innovation.
Reflecting on the honor, Skourides emphasized his deep responsibility to forge new opportunities for Cyprus. “This award confirms the relentless efforts to externalize our research and innovation ecosystem on a global scale,” he noted. He has also been welcomed into the prestigious Denim Club, G100, where he now serves as a Global Advisor on the Global Advisory Committee for Humanity, Innovation, and Technology—an integral part of the G100 Mission Millions initiative by the Women Economic Forum.
