Distinguished Researcher Awards

  • Professor George Georgiou: Recognized for his pioneering work in photovoltaic energy within the Natural Sciences and Engineering category. His research is considered outstanding and places him among the top multidisciplinary scientists in this field.
  • Professor Jean Sciare: Awarded for his exceptional contributions to Natural Sciences and Engineering. He is known for his leadership in research and his commitment to innovation and social impact.

Young Researcher Awards

  • Dr. Simone Bacchio: Honoured for his work in Natural Sciences and Engineering, particularly combining physics and applied mathematics, reflecting his passion and dedication to research.
  • Dr. Evelina Charidimou: Awarded in the Life Sciences category for her high-profile research focusing on metabolism and epigenetics, specifically liver diseases and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Dr. Pinelopi Konstantinou: Recognized in Social Sciences, specializing in clinical psychology and the use of technologies to better manage and treat health issues.

Commercial Exploitation Of Research Results

The ceremony, which took place on 26 March at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre, celebrated the importance of innovation in Cyprus and the scientific contributions of these exceptional individuals. Additionally, President Nikos Christodoulides presented the 2024 Cyprus Innovation Awards, which recognized outstanding achievements in various sectors, from agriculture to cultural heritage, underlining Cyprus’s strategic efforts to become a global hub for technology and knowledge-based development.
