This year, Hermes Airports anticipates welcoming 13 million passengers through Larnaca and Paphos airports. The Director of Aviation Development, Maria Kouroupi, highlighted the execution of new routes and budget airlines enhancing connectivity to and from Cyprus. Early data shows a 7% increase in passenger traffic during the winter months compared to the previous year.
Strategic Moves To Expand Cyprus’ Tourism Season
By extending the winter tourist season, Hermes aims to tackle the challenges of tourism seasonality. Kouroupi notes that the upcoming summer could witness unprecedented growth due to increased flight frequencies and additional routes introduced by airlines like EasyrJet and Saudia.

Expect New Routes And Enhanced Connectivity
The summer period is set to kick off earlier, with more flights from cities such as Marseille, Lyon, and Chișinău. Significant additions include routes by carriers like Transavia and SkyUp, while airlines like Ryanair aim to launch new services from several European destinations. An uptick in UK-bound flights from Manchester, Luton, and Gatwick is also on the horizon. Plus, after a hiatus, Condor will resume its flights from Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
The continued efforts by Hermes Airports are seen as a positive move for boosting tourism and the local economy. Expanding the tourism sector can play a pivotal role in enhancing GDP growth.
Collaborative Efforts For Greater Opportunities
Collaboration with strategic partners remains key. Hermes Airports, in conjunction with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, recently joined initiatives like the Berlin Tourism Fair, continuing efforts at events such as ‘Routes Europe 2025′ to foster new partnerships and further enhance Cyprus’ air connectivity.
