Cyprus’ Deputy Ministry of Tourism has introduced a new incentive scheme offering up to €35,000 per event to attract conferences, corporate meetings and other international events.
The Incentive Scheme for Attracting Conference Tourism Events 2026–2029 has an annual budget of €150,000 and covers conferences, incentive trips, international competitions and sales workshops. The program also provides additional support for events held during the winter months and in rural areas.

Incentive Amount Set Before Events
Under the new scheme, the incentive amount will be determined before an event takes place, replacing the previous approach that remained in effect through 2025.
The change gives organizers greater certainty when planning budgets and selecting Cyprus as a destination. Support will be based on factors including the number of overnight stays, event period, location and type of event.
Maximum Support By Event Type
The scheme provides the following maximum incentives:
- Non-profit, association and academic conferences: up to €25,000
- Corporate conferences: up to €35,000
- Incentive trips: up to €20,000
- International competitions and sales workshops: up to €10,000
For conferences and incentive trips, the final amount will depend on tourism-benefit zones linked to the number of overnight stays generated.
Foreign Participants And Excursions Required
At least 75% of participants must come from abroad to qualify. International competitions and sales workshops must have at least 50 participants from overseas.
Events must also include an excursion, giving participants an opportunity to experience Cyprus beyond the conference or meeting venue. The scheme runs for four years, reflecting the advance planning required for international conferences and similar events.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include non-profit organizations, associations, unions, clubs and foundations, as well as public and private higher education and academic institutions in Cyprus and abroad.
Registered professional associations, licensed travel and tourism agencies, and Cyprus- and foreign-based companies organizing conference events on the island can also apply.
Organizations financed mainly through the state budget and partner meetings held under European programs are excluded.
Additional Support For Winter And Rural Events
Extra incentives are available for events held in January and February, as well as those organized from November through April in rural, mountainous, border and remote areas.
Additional support may also be available for events that generate significant international visibility for Cyprus through prominent participants or annual international events secured through competitive bidding.
Applications Open Until Annual Budget Is Exhausted
The scheme will take effect after publication in the Official Gazette and remain in force until Dec. 31, 2029. It operates under EU Regulation 2023/2831 on de minimis aid.
Applications will be assessed until the annual €150,000 budget is exhausted and must be submitted electronically to the Deputy Ministry of Tourism using the relevant forms.
