The World's Best Airports of 2025

For most travelers, airports are a necessary inconvenience—crowded terminals, long lines, and endless waits. But Singapore Changi Airport defies the norm. Once again, it has been named the World’s Best Airport by Skytrax, marking its 13th win and reaffirming its status as the benchmark for global air travel.

More Than an Airport—A Destination

Changi isn’t just a transit hub; it’s an experience. With early check-in available 48 hours before departure, travelers are encouraged to explore the airport’s offerings as part of their journey. Many head straight to Jewel, the sprawling 10-story shopping and entertainment complex that attracted 80 million visitors last year. From the world’s largest indoor waterfall (the 130-foot-high Rain Vortex) to lush butterfly gardens, spas, hotels, museums, and even a dinosaur park, Changi feels more like a futuristic city than an airport.

Its dominance doesn’t stop there. At the World Airport Awards in Madrid on April 9, Changi also took home the titles of World’s Best Airport Dining, Best Airport in Asia, and even Best Airport Washrooms—a testament to its meticulous attention to detail.

A $2 Billion Vision For The Future

Changi isn’t resting on its laurels. A $2 billion investment over the next six years aims to further elevate the passenger experience. Meanwhile, construction is underway on Terminal 5, set to debut in the 2030s, expanding Changi’s footprint even further.

Asia Leads The Way

Skytrax’s 2025 rankings reaffirm Asia’s dominance in airport excellence. Qatar’s Hamad International Airport—a haven of luxury and cutting-edge design—secured No. 2, winning Best Airport Shopping and Best in the Middle East. Tokyo Haneda followed at No. 3, earning the title of World’s Cleanest Airport, while Seoul’s Incheon Airport took No. 4, thanks in part to its award-winning airport staff. Narita (Tokyo) and Hong Kong rounded out the top six.

Europe And North America Struggle To Keep Up

European airports made a strong showing, but the innovation gap is widening. Paris Charles de Gaulle (No. 7) retained its title as Best Airport in Europe, while Rome Fiumicino (No. 8) capitalized on the Vatican’s Jubilee celebrations to attract record traffic. Munich, Zurich, and Helsinki-Vantaa also ranked in the top 12, with Istanbul Airport (No. 14) standing out as the Most Family-Friendly Airport.

Surprisingly, London Heathrow—the busiest airport in Europe—didn’t win a single award.

North America lagged behind, with Vancouver International (No. 13) as its sole representative in the top 20. Meanwhile, Cape Town was recognized as Africa’s Best Airport.
