Agni Scott’s Journey to Stardom

Agni Scott’s career has been an extraordinary journey that began on the sunny shores of Larnaca, Cyprus and has now reached the heights of Hollywood. Recently, Agni Scott took centre stage in the Netflix hit Find Me Falling, a romantic drama that has held the coveted No. 1 spot for three consecutive weeks. In an exclusive interview with Farah Shammas for Hotel Talk, Scott opened up about her career, motherhood, and the memorable experience of working alongside the legendary Harry Connick Jr.

Growing up in Cyprus, Scott’s journey to acting wasn’t a linear path. Unsure of what she wanted to pursue academically, she headed to the U.S. at 18, exploring subjects as diverse as psychology and geology. However, an intro to the acting course sparked a passion that soon became her lifelong career. “I thought, ‘this is so much fun,’” Scott shared, reflecting on her first play, Fiddler on the Roof. Her love for acting grew, eventually earning her scholarships at Florida International University and later the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the UK.

Scott’s acting career has been shaped by her desire to tackle complex and emotionally charged roles. Early in her career, she played a Turkish woman caught in the aftermath of 9/11 in HBO’s The Hamburg Cell, a gripping role that tested her emotional resilience. While she admits her path has not always been smooth, the uncertainty and unpredictability of an acting career seem to only deepen her commitment. “My favourite part of the job is when you book it—knowing you’re going to work,” she said, touching on the precarious nature of the profession.

Despite these challenges, Scott’s dedication paid off, culminating in her lead role in Find Me Falling. Described as a film that gives audiences the lighter, more hopeful fare they crave, the movie’s appeal lies in its warmth, charm, and heartfelt story. As Scott recounts, the kiss scene with Connick Jr. may have elicited giggles and protests from her children and nephew, but for audiences, it was a delightful highlight.

On working with Connick Jr., Scott was full of praise, describing him as “incredibly talented” and “a wonderful human being.” The camaraderie and trust between the two actors are evident on screen, contributing to the film’s success. Scott’s ability to connect deeply with her co-stars is a testament to her acting prowess, and her appreciation for the bonds formed on set is palpable. “It’s such an intimate profession,” she said, reflecting on the friendships formed during intense filming schedules.

Motherhood has also played a pivotal role in Scott’s life, adding another layer of complexity to her career. Balancing the demands of acting with raising children is no small feat, but Scott remains determined. Early in her career, she returned to work just three months after her first child was born, recalling the stress of breastfeeding on set while juggling the demands of filming. Support from her husband and family has been critical in allowing her to continue pursuing her passion.

Looking ahead, Scott’s next project takes a starkly different direction. She will be starring in an independent film about refugees in Athens, tackling the harrowing experiences faced by LGBTQ individuals from Afghanistan. True to form, Scott continues to seek out roles that challenge her and allow her to explore the human condition in all its complexity.

As Scott’s career moves forward, her love for Cyprus remains deeply rooted in her heart. The island’s picturesque landscapes provided the backdrop for Find Me Falling, and Scott speaks fondly of the filming locations in Paphos and Larnaca. Cyprus, for her, is not just a setting but a character in its own right, contributing to the film’s warmth and authenticity. As Find Me Falling continues to capture the hearts of audiences worldwide, Agni Scott’s star is rising ever higher. Her talent, resilience, and dedication to her craft ensure that her journey is far from over. And as she navigates the next chapter in her career, one thing is clear: Agni Scott is a force to be reckoned with.
