1. Do you remember your first day on the job at iMotions Denmark and then CYENS Center of Excellence/SENSSOS?
At iMotions in Denmark, my first role in the industry, I remember feeling both shy and excited. The nervousness of wanting to do everything right was balanced by the welcoming culture and supportive environment. It was the perfect start to my journey, giving me exposure to industry practices and starting to build my confidence. When I returned to Cyprus and joined CYENS – Centre of Excellence as a Research Associate in the Neo-Move research group, it was another pivotal moment. I vividly recall the mix of excitement and nervousness as I stepped into a world where innovation and collaboration were at the forefront. Little did I know that the first day would set the stage for a transformative journey, eventually leading me to co-found a health tech startup. It was the beginning of an exploration into the fascinating potential of research commercialization, addressing real-world problems such as chronic pain in musicians and paving the way for SENSSOS.
2. What is more difficult: being interviewed to join a team or doing the interviews yourself?
I haven’t directly conducted interviews yet, but I’ve been involved in the hiring process, which has shown me how challenging it is to evaluate candidates and find the right fit for a team. As an interviewee, every interview feels like the first time, exciting yet nerve-wracking. Early in my career, I often felt self-doubt, but with time and clarity in my choices, I became more confident, especially when I truly believed in the opportunity. I imagine interviewing others is even harder, as it requires balancing empathy and strategic thinking to make decisions that impact the team’s future. It’s a skill I aspire to excel at as I continue to grow in my career.
3. What do you most value in your employees? Why?
I deeply value a growth mindset and adaptability in employees. In a dynamic and evolving field like health tech, challenges are inevitable, and the ability to approach problems as opportunities for learning and innovation is crucial. These qualities not only help achieve immediate goals but also foster a culture of resilience, creativity, and collaboration, essential for long-term success.
4. Which is a motto/quote you use in your work?
“One step at a time” is my guiding principle, reminding me to stay grounded, prioritize effectively, and focus on progress without becoming overwhelmed by the bigger picture.
5. If you were back to the start, what would you advise yourself for a great career?
I would advise myself to embrace networking and collaboration earlier, recognizing the immense value of learning from diverse communities and industries. Academic success is important, but real growth comes from stepping out of your comfort zone and engaging with different perspectives. I would also encourage myself to take more risks, believe in myself earlier, and trust my instincts. I wish I had travelled more and seized every opportunity to explore new cultures and experiences, as these often bring unexpected lessons that shape both personal and professional growth. That said, I’m grateful for the choices I’ve made and the path I’ve taken, as every step, no matter how uncertain or challenging, has contributed to who I am today.
6. How do you pump up your creativity?
Spending time with loved ones, walking by the sea, dancing, and exercising at the gym fuel my creativity. These activities provide a mental reset and allow me to approach problems with a fresh perspective.
7. What is a talent you would like to have?
Huh! A talent I would love to have? Definitely being a top actress and the protagonist in James Bond movies. It would be an exciting and thrilling role!
8. How do you balance work and personal life?
That’s a great question, and one I think many of us grapple with! Balance is an ongoing effort, and I’ll admit, I’m still figuring it out. Being at the start of my entrepreneurial career, it’s easy to get caught up in work. Thankfully, I have amazing people in my life who remind me to slow down, savour the little moments, and take time to relax. Whether it’s spending quality time with loved ones or appreciating life’s small pleasures, they help me stay grounded and simply enjoy life too.

11. Who is your favourite author/book that helped your career?
I’ve been influenced by many books and podcasts throughout my journey, both personally and professionally. One standout is The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins, which has helped me overcome procrastination and self-doubt by teaching me the power of immediate action. I’m also currently reading Start With Why by Simon Sinek, which inspires me to reflect on the deeper purpose behind actions and decisions in both leadership and innovation. Additionally, I’m a huge fan of podcasts, with The Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett being a favourite. His candid conversations with leaders from various fields provide invaluable insights into entrepreneurship and personal growth, which continue to shape my mindset and approach.
12. Where would you advise our readers to go this winter globally?
For a cosy winter experience in Cyprus, I recommend the Troodos Mountains, where you can explore charming villages, stunning landscapes, and even snow during colder months, a rare treat in Cyprus.
One highlight is Kalopanagiotis, known for its thermal springs, breathtaking views, and the UNESCO-listed Agios Ioannis Lampadistis Monastery.
Another must-visit is the Oenou Yi – Ktima Vassiliades Winery in Omodos, offering guided tours, wine tastings, and stunning views of the vineyards.
For a quieter retreat, I suggest Simou, my village in the Pafos region. It’s a peaceful escape with authentic village charm, serene nature, and beautiful views, perfect for recharging this winter.
