Junior Achievement Cyprus And Esso Launch Female Leadership Awards For Young Entrepreneurs

by Annetta Benzar

Junior Achievement Cyprus (JA Cyprus) and eWise Cyprus Ltd-Esso have announced a partnership introducing two new awards to recognise young women demonstrating leadership and initiative in entrepreneurship.

The Female Leadership of the Year Awards will be presented through two existing JA Cyprus programmes: the Company Programme, aimed at secondary school students, and the JA StartUp Programme. One participant from each programme will be recognised for her leadership and contribution to her business team.

The awards aim to encourage more girls and young women to take on leadership roles, develop confidence in their ideas and pursue opportunities in entrepreneurship.

Recognising The Next Generation Of Women Entrepreneurs

The new awards will recognise participants who demonstrate leadership, creativity, initiative and a commitment to developing their business teams.

Through the Company Programme, secondary school students create and operate their own businesses, gaining experience in the main stages of developing a business idea.

The JA StartUp Programme gives students the opportunity to develop business proposals, test their ideas and gain skills for their future professional and entrepreneurial careers.

The Female Leadership of the Year Awards will be presented during the academic year, recognising one participant from each programme.

Natasa Pilides, General Manager of eWise Cyprus Ltd-Esso, welcomed the partnership and its focus on encouraging young women to pursue entrepreneurship.

“Recognising the remarkable work that JA Cyprus is doing in creating an entrepreneurial culture for our children and young people, we hope as Esso to contribute actively to this effort and in particular to encouraging more women to utilize their talents and skills in the world of entrepreneurship,”

she said.

Antigoni Komodiki, CEO of Junior Achievement Cyprus, emphasised the importance of recognising young women who are already demonstrating leadership within the organisation’s programmes.

“Through our collaboration with eWise Cyprus Ltd-Esso and the creation of the Female Leadership of the Year Awards, we want to highlight the young women who already demonstrate these values within our programs and, at the same time, send a strong message to every girl and young woman: that there is room for her own voice, her own ideas and her own leadership in the world of entrepreneurship.”

Through the partnership, the two organisations aim to give greater recognition to young women taking leadership roles in student businesses and encourage more girls to develop their entrepreneurial abilities.
