Lidl Cyprus and Lidl Hellas will enter a new leadership phase in March 2027, with Georgios Tokatlis set to become chief executive officer on March 1, 2027.
Tokatlis will succeed Miltos Forozidis, who has led both businesses as chief executive officer and president of the boards. Forozidis will hand over the board presidency at the end of February 2027 before moving into a new international role within the Schwarz Group, Lidl’s parent company.

A Leadership Transition Built On Experience
Tokatlis currently serves as chief executive officer of Lidl Denmark and brings more than two decades of experience at the company. Over 21 years with Lidl, he has held a wide range of executive positions, building a career that spans both operational leadership and cross-border management.
His background is especially relevant to the new role. Tokatlis has previously held senior positions in Greece and has spent the past five years in leadership roles across Scandinavia, giving him a mix of local market insight and international perspective.
Strategic Continuity Across Two Markets
The appointment signals continuity for Lidl’s operations in Greece and Cyprus at a time when retail leadership increasingly depends on execution, supply-chain discipline and market adaptability. Tokatlis’s experience in both the Greek business and Lidl’s Scandinavian operations positions him to bridge regional familiarity with broader international best practice.
Forozidis’s departure from the role does not mark an exit from the group, but rather a progression within the wider Schwarz ecosystem, underscoring the company’s practice of developing leaders across markets and functions.
What The Change Means For Lidl
Leadership transitions of this kind are more than routine personnel updates. For multinational retailers, they can shape pace, priorities and organizational culture across entire markets. Tokatlis will inherit a pair of businesses that require both stability and operational agility, and his track record suggests a strong fit for that mandate.
With the handover scheduled for early 2027, Lidl is giving the two executives time to ensure an orderly transition across leadership, governance and market operations.
