Best Cities for Working Remotely: Methodology
According to the Dojo report “The study was calculated using a combination of statistics on each city including; internet speed, cost of living, level of internet freedom, and Quality of Life. Government websites were used to gather information about digital nomad visas including cost and length. The Quality-of-Life metric was used across all cities bar those in the US and Canada, where Livability was used as a proxy.”
Charlie Ashworth, Senior Insights Manager at Dojo tells me, “When choosing the best city to work from, digital nomads tend to prioritize a few key factors. Good visa options sit at the top of the list, with the ease of the application and length of being able to stay being the most important.”
“In the future, we might expect to see more countries relax their rules around digital nomad visas, all competing to attract remote workers by offering flexible, long-term stay options without the usual visa hassles,” he adds. “We’ve recently seen New Zealand relax its visa rules, allowing remote workers to stay and work for foreign employers for up to nine months. This shift is opening up a world of possibilities for digital nomads everywhere, making it easier to experience different cultures whilst creating a sustainable work-life balance.”
While Italy reigns supreme in the rankings, England and France come in last as the worst cities for Digital Nomads.
